The Coaches Playroom

A practical space for coaches who want to try something different, experiment with their coaching and have a bit of fun along the way.

Each month we'll explore a particular coaching model, tool or approach. Some may be familiar, others less so. The idea is to give ourselves permission to try things out without feeling we have to get them right first time.

Come prepared to be either coach or client. Depending on numbers and the approach we're exploring, we might practise in pairs or small groups, or I might coach a volunteer so we can look at what happens together.

We'll talk about what worked, what didn't, what surprised us and where the approach might be useful in real coaching conversations.

No faff, no overthinking. Just learning through doing.

What to expect

A different focus each month

Each session explores a particular coaching model, tool or approach, with a short introduction and supporting notes to help you get started.

Time to practise

You'll have opportunities to experiment, coach or be coached, and see how others approach the same exercise.

Discussion and reflection

We'll share observations, questions and experiences, including what we might take into our own coaching.

A one-page resource

You'll receive a short guide to the approach we're exploring, which you can refer to afterwards.

Who is it for?

Coaches at any stage who enjoy learning, experimenting and trying different ways of working.

You don't need to be part of another McQueen Mentoring programme to join.

Session dates and booking

The Coaches Playroom runs monthly online.

Each session lasts 75 minutes and costs £25 (no VAT).

You can book individual sessions according to the topics that interest you. There's no ongoing commitment.

Professional development

A certificate of attendance will be provided, recording the session duration for your professional development records.

How to join

Choose the session you'd like to attend and book your place online.

Places are limited to 12 coaches per session to allow plenty of opportunity for practice and discussion.

You'll receive joining information before the session.
